This work aims to present the Movimento dos Quintais Brincantes in Brazil, discussing methodologies, objectives and methods used in the formation of its teaching-learning practices. To do so, we will use the experience carried out in 2023 in a backyard in the municipality of Imbé-RS. Starting from elaboration, execution and pedagogical development carried out with children aged 2 to 6 years. The proposal of the text is to question the models of traditional children's schools in order to weigh other models of education, reflecting on methods of pedagogical innovation theoretical basis of Brazilian thinkers and inspirations from the people of the forests and people of African origin. Quintal Aroeira welcomed five families throughout the year and free play practices were developed, with outdoor activities, organic food with products harvested from the community garden, family participation in repairs to the space and in the development of proposed activities. We concluded at the end of the year that this space contributed to autonomy, creativity, health and cooperation between children and the creation of bonds between families, the educator and the community surrounding Quintal Aroeira.
