Abstract

This paper aims to present an excerpt from research carried out at the Federal University of Rio Grande, discussing Law 10.639/2003 and the guidelines provided for the initial training of teachers, seeking to articulate the importance of developing ethno-racial discussions in the training space with school practices. We used bibliographical research on schools, racism and Law 10.639, seeking to problematize teacher training and the National Plan for Education on Ethnic-Racial Relations and the Teaching of Afro-Brazilian and African History and Culture. The articulation of the issues presents the discussion and justifies the lack of teaching repertoire in terms of qualification for the implementation of the National Curriculum Guidelines for the Education of Ethnic-Racial Relations and for the Teaching of Afro-Brazilian and African History and Culture.

Keywords: education; teacher training; Law 10.639/2003.
