Social, economic, and technological factors have driven the restructuring of higher education. In this context, MEC Ordinance No. 4.059, dated December 10, 2004, allows up to 20% of the curriculum in undergraduate programs to be offered in a distance learning (EaD) format. This study aimed to analyze the profile of students and the influence of social and technological changes on the courses offered in the 20% EaD format at the University of Contestado, from the period 2015/2 to 2020/2. Utilizing secondary data from the UNC Academic System – E-Mestre and the Virtual Learning Environment AVA-MOODLE, the methodological procedures involved extracting and analyzing data in spreadsheets using Excel software. The results indicate significant growth in the number of students opting for distance learning, predominantly young individuals under 30 years old, with a trend toward a higher female participation and broad internet access. Although the focus of the study was not the teaching-learning process, the need for multiple tools that promote varied interactions became evident, suggesting a potential area for future research.
