Abstract

This study presents the construction of an educational project that aims to introduce and integrate concepts of agribusiness and food systems in urban primary schools, providing a comprehensive and practical educational approach. The project is aligned with some of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and its main objective is to raise students' awareness of the importance of agribusiness, food production and environmental conservation. The project will rely on an active methodology, in contrast to traditional methods in which students are mainly passive recipients of information, active methodologies encourage active participation, reflection and practical application of knowledge. The project will be applied in municipalities in Corede Rio da Várzea, located in the Northwest Mesoregion of Rio Grande do Sul. The region was chosen because it offers the Postgraduate Program in Agribusiness at the Federal University of Santa Maria, campus, Palmeira das Missões, which is responsible for organizing the project, in addition to the fact that a large part of the region's economy is made up of the agribusiness sector. The project is expected to not only enrich students' education, but also promote positive change in communities by encouraging sustainability, respect for the environment and conscious food choices. In this way, the proposal aims to contribute to the formation of more informed, engaged and prepared citizens for future challenges related to food production and agribusiness.
