Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to present an overview of the Post-Popular Extension Program. This is justified by its importance for people living in the outskirts of Brasília and its metropolitan region. Our goal is to demonstrate that the inhabitants of these areas have been reached by the program and have pursued master's or doctoral degrees at public universities. This is a qualitative and bibliographical study with data and content analysis, based on written materials about what the Post-Popular Program is and how it works. Questionnaires were also conducted with some people who had completed their courses, and from their responses, it was possible to verify that those who attended the meetings felt welcomed and motivated to begin a career as a researcher. The path from the outskirts to the university is long, but it was possible to see that the program has been important for people from these regions to have been able to access and remain in academia and emerge victorious with their diplomas.
