Abstract

I present part of the history of Colégio de Aplicação – CA, at the Federal University of Santa Catarina - UFSC, from the point of view of the research field of the history of mathematics education, with a theoretical and methodological basis on cultural history and school subjects. The objective of this study is to characterize, historically, the application school as a space for teacher training, which fosters the educational development of Santa Catarina, with regard to the training of mathematics teachers. I seek to answer: how does the UFSC application college contribute to the regional development of Santa Catarina in relation to mathematics teacher training? The resumption of this trajectory, over the last 60 years, confirms that the school plays its main role: being a training ground for different undergraduate courses. The research reveals the application college as one of the main basic education schools in the capital, which hosts the component: supervised curricular internship, of the mathematics degree course, since its creation. Given its importance, CA, as it is a basic locus in Santa Catarina, becomes a hub in mathematics teacher training.

Keywords: supervised internship; maths teacher; history of mathematics education; regional education development.
