This work consists of emphasizing the importance of teacher training for the successful implementation of ethnic-racial relations in the school environment, with a focus on the teaching of Afro-descendant culture through playfulness in early childhood education. According to Law 10,639 of 09/01/2003, "the teaching of African History and Afro-Brazilian Culture in the curriculum of Basic Education is mandatory," aiming to historically recover the contributions and legacy of the black population in our popular culture and the formation of Brazilian society. Through bibliographic and documentary research on this topic, I analyze the National Curricular Guidelines for Initial Teacher Education for Basic Education, established by Resolution CNE/CP n. 20 of December 2019, which legitimizes what is explicitly stated in laws n. 10.639/2003 and n. 11.645/2008 when they present the professional requirements for teachers, and I present the contributions of playfulness to the success of ethnic-racial relations implementation. Therefore, it is the duty of the teacher to play the role of educating and building a democratic space and a more just society.
