To construct the writing, legal documents, School Census data and bibliographic references were analyzed. As a result, it is clear that the older the student who is behind in school, the more likely he/she is to follow his/her school trajectory in age/year distortion or drop out of the educational system. There is a municipal pattern where boys lead the year age distortion rates, as well as students who declare themselves indigenous and black. Finally, it is highlighted that overcoming school failure depends on the collective effort of each public body through federal public policies and also in each local territory.
