The importance of play as a learning tool in teaching mathematics

This article will be based on bibliographical research, raising thoughts and bringing to discussion the utmost importance of using play as a learning tool in the “Teaching of Mathematics”, as we know that this subject at school is seen as very difficult to learn, making how formulas, theories, concepts and mechanized calculations make the majority of students feel repulsed by the content covered, where often even specialist teachers and especially polyvalent ones do not master nor enjoy teaching the content covered in Mathematics. We will mainly limit the discussions to the clientele of Early Childhood and Elementary Education I, but also highlighting the extreme importance of working on Mathematics in a playful way with any child and at any level of education. The main objective of working on Mathematics in a playful way with games, dynamics, concrete materials, different activities, among others, is to make children feel more pleasure, become more motivated, increasing their ease with the proposed contents and objectives, facilitating the process. of teaching/learning, and as a consequence making children learn in a more meaningful and enjoyable way.
