The military regime in Canoinhas (SC) and its implications for regional development (1964-1985)

The present research intended to build a still unknown narrative about the characteristics and specificities of the implementation and maintenance of the military regime in the city of Canoinhas, understanding the impact of the establishment and maintenance of the Brazilian military regime (1964-1985) on the municipality and its repercussions on regional development. In addition, it intended to reconstruct the trajectories of social actors who opposed the military dictatorship, as well as to identify the political, economic and social groups, linked to the local elite, who supported the military regime in the municipality and who favored public policies implemented at the level during the period. Therefore, the results of the research and its consequent socialization, aim to develop more sophisticated strategies related to the development of the region under analysis, through joint collaboration between academia, civil society and public authorities.
