Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to present analysis on government decentralization in Santa Catarina, as well as the role of social actors in this process: government, private initiative, community and universities. We analyze management mechanisms, such as planning from the autonomous regional perspective. Finally, we note the perspective of administrative deconcentration compared to the concept of decentralization. The applied methodology was qualitative, using bibliographic base of renowned authors on the themes of work and socioeconomic data from UNDP - United Nations Development Program and IBGE (Brazilian Institute of Statistical Geography). The research results point to conclusions about the studied themes and the state situation in relation to the administrative decentralization and its possible consequences to the development of Santa Catarina.
