analysis of the experiences of Sul de Minas Business Council

The present study aims to present the institutional importance of the Sul de Minas Business Council - Varginha (CESUL - Varginha) as a locus of articulation and proposition of alternatives for regional development. The new democracy that emerges today is moving towards a more participative and not just representative direction and in this area the role of municipal and regional councils is of fundamental importance. The article was constructed based on bibliographical research and action research, in view of the direct participation of the authors in the constitution and implementation of CESUL. The results demonstrate the important role of this council in the consolidation of an environment of regional debate, the constitution of the thematic chambers, the construction of proposals through the "Carta do Sul de Minas", as well as the realization of national and international partnerships. It is highlighted as criticism and proposition of improvement that the council increase its regional rooting allowing a greater foundation in the Sul de Minas society.
